there are a helluva lot of marquees in the "official" set that are either non-existant or crops of flyers/screenshots - and TBH they look out of place (and quite frankly crap) within 3DA environments.
that's what inspired me to create a few custom marquees of my own to use in 3DA.
i was going to just up them all here, but i spent a couple of hours playing with (the very limited) orange site-builder last night ( http://www.orange.co.uk/sitebuilder/ ) and here's the result:
http://d-pad.mysite.orange.co.uk/
unfortunately, it resizes them and converts them to jpg, so if you want (slightly) better quality ones feel free to PM me and i can mail them to you.
also, i ran out of space before being able to get all my custom images up. so, if there's something you're after please ask - if i haven't done it already i'm open to requests!
anyone else done any custom marquees they'd like to share? |

Well, as you know, I did have my very own set of custom marquees for all the arcades, but lost them when my hard-drive decide to press it's self-destruct button.
If I ever manage to recover from the psychological damage, then I'll do some more. Until then, I'll continue to use the fine set that you made. |

Wig, i was going to include your custom marquees for laterna and the q-bert one (...fpsarcadedemo), but i ran out of pages on the site - told you it was limited!. please post them here, they're both excellent! |

Good work there, d-pad! I've been working on doing a little of this myself, but I've only just started and I don't have pictures of most of the marquees I need (Asterix, Dyna Gear, Mega Man 2 The Power Fighters, Puyo Puyo Sun...), but here's a couple.
New version of the Mortal Kombat marquee. For some odd reason, the one that came with the packs had an all black background and gave the Midway logo in white.
SvC Chaos: SNK vs. Capcom. This is pretty much only good for the PCB version cab. I have it on the giant display cab and it looks pretty good.
Kind of an afterthought here, I used a cleaner version of the Taito logo for d-pad's G-Darius marquee. |

nice work!
my G-Darius marquee is unfortunately just a crop of the flyer - not too dissimilar to the "official" mame marquees version. the higher res Taito logo you've added certainly makes a difference! |

It's nowhere near the official logo, but there was never an English language logo anyway, and I can't find the Japanese marquee anyway. I like how it turned out though, imperfect as it is. |

Awesome marquees d-pad! This should have been done a long time ago, why none of the fine folks in the MAME project haven't done something like this astounds me. I've even done a marquee myself for one of my favorite space sims on the Nintendo VS. platform that's in my 3D Arcade setup, Star Luster, I pretty much made it straight from it's flyer. I'll have to upload it somewhere to you guys to add to the mix if you want. |

thanks Major!
strizzuth: if you wanted to "recreate" a japanese sexy parodius marquee you could always use the cover from the ps or saturn version...
nice work on the one you've done btw

| Yeah, I was looking into that and then got lazy. I was going to use this one as a placeholder but I really liked how it turned out so I just figured I'd share it here. |

Here, I made a new one using the actual game logo.
And here's one I made using the flyer for Dyna Gear (I'm probably the only person who's ever played it, but I think it's a lot of fun).
EDIT: D'oh! Sorry for double post! I wasn't paying attention. |

i've played Dyna Gear... from what i remember it's a bit like square/enix' Actraiser with a bit of SNK's Metal Slug thrown in |

I'd say it's a little more like Ghouls N Ghosts only much, much easier and set on a weird dinosaur/werewolf planet.
I made this one from the title screen so it's a little pixelly looking, but I managed to replace the gradient of the text with a much smoother one. Criticisms welcome.
